About Me
For over a decade I’ve worked professionally on the issue of climate change and resilience. My career started at the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) working on climate change, communication and campaigns. In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy my focus shifted to New York City where I worked at Rebuild by Design, focusing on rebuilding efforts from the hurricane. I also worked with cities and communities on resilience, addressing issues of social and physical vulnerability to climate change and other threats. I'm currently a Visiting Fellow at New York University's Institute for Public Knowledge.
I received my MA in Global Environmental Politics from American University and my BS in Public Affairs & Environmental Management from Indiana University. My commentary has appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle, Huffington Post, Minnesota Star Tribune, Indianapolis Star, New York Times and Sustainable Cities Collective as well as other magazines and journals.
I’m originally from Indiana so I’ll always be a Hoosier with Midwestern roots, but I’ve spent most of my adult life on the East Coast in Washington, DC and New York City. I’ve called Queens, New York home since 2014, as it’s where I’ve built my home and community.
